Denim Design Assistant:
Reformation is a mission-based company that is fast-growing and is redefining fashion. We make killer clothes that don’t kill the environment and want our garments’ impact on the planet to be as low as possible. After all, there’s nothing less sexy than leaving a big nasty mess.
Reformation has an exciting opportunity for a Design Assistant to be part of our in-house denim design team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the denim design team in the administration of keeping the department running smoothly in a well organized fashion.
This is an excellent hands on opportunity to get your feet on the ground in the fashion industry and learn all aspects of the design process.
The Design Assistant will work from our Culver City / Vernon offices to support all facets of the design process.
What you'll do:
- Work directly with the Senior Denim Designer to support all aspects of design from trend research to assisting with sketching and office organization and admin.
- Assist with Trend Research with the ability to highlight concepts relevant for the Reformation brand/customer.
- Assist in mock ups via CAD/Illustrator/photoshop and on garment.
- Assist in researching inspiration for novelty trims.
- Assist with sketching, and sketch updates with direction from Senior Designer.
- Assist with setting up monthly assortment decks.
- Maintain updates on denim line sheets.
- Help with updates in digital design decks throughout the development process.
- Enter new styles into our PIM system.
- Enter new styles in PLM and help maintain updates throughout the development process
- Attend fittings, take notes, help with updates post fitting.
- Sample management of design references.
- Assist with organizing and preparing samples for presentations.
- Ability or interest in learning about denim wash processes to help support throughout the denim development process.
What you'll need:
- Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in related fields.
- 1-2 years of experience in the apparel industry is preferred.
- Strong sense of organization and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong awareness of trends and ability to be highly creative.
- Strong eye for color.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with partners in Tech, Production, and Design.
- Strong understanding of the Reformation customer aesthetic and product.
