I. PRIMARY FUNCTION
Provide project management leadership and logistical coordination for sustainability consulting projects. This may involve a variety of projects, including event assessments and management of event sustainability.
II. IF SOMEONE WERE TO ASK, “WHAT DO YOU DO?”
“I help make events more sustainable. Through work with venues, suppliers, and our clients, I identify and implement sustainability strategies, as well as collect, analyze, and report on environmental footprint data such as waste, water, energy, and carbon emissions. With the average event attendee producing 350% more waste and 300% more emissions compared to their normal home lives, it is imperative that we take efforts to reduce the environmental impact as much as we can!”
III. SCOPE OF WORK
- Lead projects assuring excellent customer service is provided by the entire team (where a team-format is used)
- Independently conduct carbon assessments through data collection and calculation
- Serve as liaison between client, staff, and vendors
- Develop management and communication systems for the client and staff for the project
- Develop the project budget in conjunction with the client and manage project budget
- Identify clear objectives and targets for the project and coordinate to track any indicators associated with the project
- Develop and manage the timeline for the project. Assure all tasks are completed by the appropriate party on time
Scope of work may also include some or all the following:
- Research sustainable event practices through interviews, request for proposals processes, and site inspections
- Collaborate with clients and vendors to create sustainable event plans and implement practices
- Negotiate sustainable event contract clauses
- Educate and train client, vendors and MeetGreen staff in sustainable event approaches and practices
- Assist with client and MeetGreen with communication efforts related to event sustainability (i.e., author web content, fun facts, signage, program information)
- Monitor compliance with sustainable event clauses pre-event as well as onsite and troubleshoot to ensure objectives are met
- Complete post-event reports and evaluations about event sustainability, including making recommendations on improvements that can be made

V. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of sustainability-related issues, preferably through a combination of academic and work experience
- Experience in event management or with large venues
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting sustainability-related data
- Basic research and math skills
- Possess the ability to negotiate and work with sub-contractors, vendors, and clients
- Experience managing onsite recycling teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software. Design abilities are an asset
- Proficiency in conducting and participating in virtual meetings I.e.,Google Meet and Zoom
- Can work independently and be able to supervise others
VI. HOURS & SALARY
This position will be a project-based position by contract, approximately 10 hours per week. Rates negotiated at contract signing

This is a fully remote position. Some travel may be required.
