Rise Up is a nonprofit organization that envisions an equitable world where everyone has the opportunity to live healthy lives, gain education, achieve economic mobility, and fulfill their potential. The company works towards building power with local leaders, especially women and girls, who are transforming their communities and countries as part of a global movement for justice and equity. Rise Up focuses on three core areas, namely education, health, and economic opportunity, and advocates for laws, policies, and programs to improve these areas. Since its inception in 2009, Rise Up has successfully advocated for 120 new and improved laws and policies, impacting 135 million people around the world.
Sustainability at Rise Up
Rise Up Leaders advocate for accessible, affordable, and high-quality health care and work to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice. We also work to stop gender-based violence and ensure access to quality preventative health services. Through our Global Advocacy program, we support local leaders in advocating for policies and programs that improve health outcomes for women, girls, and gender-nonconforming people. We also provide training and resources to help leaders build their skills and amplify their voices on health issues.
Rise Up Leaders advocate for laws, policies, and programs to increase girls’ access to education, protect girls from harmful practices that limit their ability to complete their education, and ensure that girls and young people have the support they need to stay in school. We work towards achieving SDG 4 by empowering girls and young women to become leaders and advocates for education in their communities. Through our Girls’ Leadership Accelerator program, we provide training, resources, and networking opportunities to support the development of local solutions that address the barriers to girls’ education.
Rise Up is committed to advancing gender equality by promoting safe working conditions, advocating for equal pay and more women in leadership roles, and ensuring financial inclusion for women. Through our Women’s Leadership Accelerator program, we provide training and resources to help women and gender-nonconforming individuals become effective leaders and advocates for gender equality. We also work to create opportunities for women to access credit, develop skills, own land, and inherit property.
