Our mission at Apeel is to drastically reduce food waste, a leading contributor to climate change, and to simplify people's experience with fruits and vegetables by preventing their rapid spoilage. We achieve this through Apeel, an extra "peel" of protection for fruits and vegetables made from purified mono- and diglycerides derived from non-GMO, sustainably sourced plant oils. Apeel is meticulously crafted to mimic the natural protection that exists on all fruits and vegetables, providing a breathable layer that extends the shelf life of produce by retaining moisture and barring oxygen. We assure you of the safety and purity of our product, which is subjected to rigorous testing to confirm the absence of allergens, trans fats, pesticides, and heavy metals. By giving produce more time, we're not only preventing food waste but also conserving the resources and greenhouse gas emissions associated with wasted food. We're committed to creating a more sustainable global food system, driven by our unwavering dedication to purity and sustainability.
Sustainability at Apeel
By providing an extended shelf-life for fruits and vegetables, we're fighting against food scarcity and promoting access to nutritious food for everyone. This ensures that more people are able to consume fresh produce before it spoils, thereby promoting healthier diets.
Our rigorous purification process and allergen testing ensure our products are safe for everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions or allergies. The promotion of fruit and vegetable consumption also directly correlates with improved overall health.
Our mission directly targets reducing food waste, thus promoting more responsible consumption and production. We’re also a “Friend of Champions 12.3”, contributing to the momentum to achieve UN SDG 12.3: halving per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels, and reducing food losses along production and supply chains by 2030.
By significantly reducing food waste, we contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions that come from the decomposition of wasted food in landfills. In 2022 alone, we helped avoid 67K metric tons CO₂-eq of greenhouse gas emissions, which is equivalent to planting 110,000 trees.
