Sustainability at Allbirds
Allbirds is founded on the principle of sustainable consumption and production. We diligently scrutinize and measure the carbon footprint of each product we create, striving to reduce our carbon emissions and utilize resources effectively. As an expression of this commitment, we introduced Carbon Footprint Labelling to all our products in April 2020, becoming the first fashion brand to do so. This initiative acts as a nutrition label for our consumers, providing transparency on the environmental impact of their purchases.
We have been on a mission to cut our carbon footprint in half by 2025 and reduce it to near zero by 2030, a commitment we made in our Allbirds Flight Plan in 2021. In 2022, we reduced our average product carbon footprint by 19% compared to the previous year, marking significant progress towards our goals. Through our robust approach to accountability, we don't just measure and offset our emissions, but actively strategize to reduce our carbon footprint beyond neutrality.
We contribute to protecting, restoring, and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems through our commitment to use renewable materials. Instead of relying on fossil fuels, we've been inventing alternatives that don't yet exist and replacing petroleum-based materials with natural ones. Additionally, our focus on regenerative agriculture helps us in creating a sustainable loop of resource usage. We are aiming for our wool supply chain to shift entirely to regenerative sources by 2025. Through these initiatives, we not only aim to lessen our environmental impact but also strive to reverse the detrimental effects of climate change.
